Job Purpose

The job holder shall manage daily operations and commercial activities of the Mombasa team, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and growth in all import, transit and customs clearance functions.


Areas of Responsibility

  1. Documentation: - Ensure timely submissions of clearance documents to enhance compliance with relevant regulations and standards to avoid delays and penalties.
  2. Payment processes: -collaborate with the relevant teams and KPA on payment matters, invoicing, and statement reconciliation to facilitate smooth release of shipments.
  3. Shipment activities: - responsible for shipment monitoring & coordination
  4. Relationship management: - manage relationship with customers, carriers, and vendors and resolve any issues which arise.
  5. Customer Coordination: - work closely with clients to coordinate offloading and avoid truck detention charges
  6. Technical Operations Support: - proactively address and resolve operational issues providing solutions
  7. Compliance: - Ensure compliance with all departmental SOPs and regulators
  8. Reporting: - Ensure all round reports are shared within the required timings.
  9. People Management: - Overseeing C & F operations in Mombasa and assessing staff and their performances
  10. Data protection: - comply with the company data protection policy.


Education

  1. Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  2. Diploma in clearing & forwarding, KESRA Training with ICMs credentials.
  3. Proven 5 years working experience in a managerial position in Clearing & Forwarding
  4. Certified by KRA with ICMs credentials, Ken Trade Training


Job related skills, knowledge and experience

  1. Strong understanding of clearing & forwarding operations, regulatory compliance, and financial accuracy, coupled with effective communication skills
  2. Good mitigating and Conflict resolutions skills
  3. Good report writing skills
  4. Strong interpersonal, organizational and team skills
  5. Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task with minimal supervision
  6. Demonstrated ability to influence and work with cross functional teams.
